Broadband Satellite Tv

Quite a few satellites orbit above the earths surface, over 50. These are spaced out two to three degrees apart. The satellites orbit at exactly the same speed and direction as the earth itself so that they remain in a fixed position above a particular area, which helps to make it easy for you to receive a signal.

Each satellite only covers around 1/3 of the world's surface, this is because it is the only area that is visible from the satellite's position. For certain broadband satellite tv to receive signals, what are known as "spot beams", are pointed directly down at certain times.

Massive multi national companies own the satellites used for brodband satellite tv. Newskies, Eutelsat, and Intelsat are three of these companies. Some national companies and regional operators are also available for you to subscribe to.

There are many features of a Broadband Satellite TV.

Internet service providers offer broadband satellite tv, these ISPs sell their services to consumers. Many of them provide free equipment to get you started and offer monthly subscriptions, each of which depends on the capacity you require (what channels).

When you subscribe to a broadband satellite TV provider, you will get a small satellite dish, which could be 60cm all the way through to 3.7m in diameter, and you'll get a receiver module, and a suitable transmit module. This equipment is vital to you being able to receive signals from the satellite broadband, and extracting data from your computer or network. If you have this equipment inside your home it can prepare your system for data transmission, whenever you click the mouse over the internet.

When you subscribe for broadband satellite tv, you will be paying for an amount of data, or a specific bit rate, such as 512k down. This means that when you download a file, the highest speed will be 512k bits. Most broadband satellite tv providers offer "shared bit rates", these will be limited or lower bit rates that offer a specified capacity that you will be sharing.

Its good to be aware that if you choose to use the sharing arrangements, you will be given a monthly upload and download limit. This is done to ensure that other users can block you from receiving broadcasts. The policies surrounding the 'fairness' can be complicated and will vary from one broadband satellite tv provider to the next.

If having limits puts you off, then you can subscribe with a CIR (continuous information rate) service that lets you upload and download unlimited data to your hearts content. Just expect a more expensive subscruption rate if you decide to go down this route, as they are generally used for commercial purposes, like internet cafes and other businesses that require large bit rates.

My answers are based

My answers are based on using a 500s and 7020s with a Gemini image so may not 100% apply to a 7000.

1. Probably not but you may be able to use gotoXX- this is described in the Idiot's Guide- I don't use it so can't describe it much more.
2. There are a few xml based EPGs but they're all pretty rubbish. There may be a picture-in-picture plugin but not sure- might only be available for twin tuner Dreamboxes (haven't tried it).
3. If the image is USB stick based it will probably be stored on the stick.
4. The information will still be on the USB stick.
5. Use a normal CAT5 cable to connect a Dreambox to a router. Crossover is only for connecting a Dreambox to a PC.
6. Never tried it. If you have a hub spare try it and let us know. We like and encourage feedback and particpation.
7. Don't know but if it is it'll either be in the Blue Panel or the Expert Setup pages.

Sorry to be a bit vague but hopefully there'll be enough info to get you started. It's very hard to kill a Dreambox and feel free to post as often as you like

How to Get Satellite TV for Free Instantly

Get satellite TV for free instantly is a dream come true for many satellite TV fans. The whole idea of having to make monthly payments to the satellite TV service providers has been so entrenched in the minds of satellite TV users that it takes a bit of adjustment to having free access to satellite TV. This article will tell you more about how to get satellite TV for free from home.

What does it take to watch satellite TV for free?

I am not going to talk about setting up a satellite dish TV system. Yes, you can set up a satellite dish system to get free channels from satellite TV stations. But it will take more than just a few hundred words to explain the entire set-up. What I will be sharing is using a simple PC satellite TV software or PCTV cards to get satellite TV for free. And the TV you watch will be from your PC and not your TV set though you can still wire the satellite TV to a TV set.

PC satellite TV software is a new discovery as a result of years of research findings and development. Software developers realized that one can actually make use of internet bandwidth to transmit and receive free to air satellite TV signals from worldwide satellite TV stations. These programs are entirely free and so anyone at home with an internet connection to their PC can get satellite TV for free instantly. The software experts then came up with an application which allows us to watch satellite TV on PC for free. Well, even though the software is not free, the developers have decided to make it readily available at affordable prices so that more people get to enjoy free satellite TV. It also means greater profits to them. These software can be downloaded online.

Another method to get satellite TV for free is to make use of PCTV cards. These cards are hardware that configures our computer to receive satellite TV feeds. You can find both external and internal PCTV cards. Application is similar to other PC peripherals and they can be connected externally through a USB port. If you do not have a spare USB port, you can always buy an adapter off the rack from computer stores.

The computer system requirements for both are generally the same, but I would advise that you check with the PC hardware salesperson if the PCTV card is compatible with the TV. Other than that, here is a list of standard requirements:

1. Pentium III CPU

The minimum requirement is a Pentium III CPU. Anything higher than that would be even better.

2. Operating System

The software and card works well with almost all Windows OS versions such as Win 98, 2000, ME or XP. Even Mac users do not have a problem.

3. Other Peripherals

Peripherals like USB port, sound card, graphics card and CD ROM drive are essential. Other non-essentials like a speaker system or a larger monitor can enhance your viewing experience greatly.

These are the ways to get satellite TV for free. The main differences between the two are the pricing and installation method. TV viewers tend to prefer using PC satellite TV software because of the convenience of download, its ease of setup and cheaper pricing. If you want to display the channels on your TV, just purchase and fix a video card with S-video output on your computer and connect it to the TV.

Find out more at my blog about where you can download this special satellite TV software for a reasonable price.

Sony Ericsson C905 is Latest Cybershot Phone - Sony C905 UK

The first ever 8 megapixel Cybershot camera phone has now been launched on O2 in the UK, the new Sony Ericsson C905 is the manufacturers flagship model and offers the very latest in technology and features from the camera focussed Cybershot range.

The Sony C905 is to get some unwelcome company from competing manufacturers as the first batch of 8 megapixel camera phones are released onto the UK markets, in particular the LG KC910 Renoir and Samsung M8800 Pixon models.

The Sony Ericsson C905 Cybershot phone offers a groundbraking 8.1 mega pixel camera which is a genuine alternative to a digital camera. The camera includes top-end features including a Xenon flash, Auto focus face detection and image stabiliser to name just a few. Users can make videos of their friends and family with the video recording feature. It even has a video stabiliser and a video light. When users have finished taking pictures and videos they can then upload them quickly to their blog for everyone to see.

The C905 has a Wi-Fi antenna and Sony is also bigging up its ability to automatically network with other components - such as a PlayStation 3, Bravia TV or Vaio laptop - using the DLNA standard. DLNA - or Digital Living Network Alliance - is a set of interoperability protocols designed to ensure various electronic devices can easily network with each other without complicated setting up or servers. Its backers include consumer electronics giants such as Sony, Philips and Toshiba as well as mobile phone companies like Nokia, LG, Motorola and - obviously- Sony Ericsson.

The media player comes with an FM Radio, TrackID, Album Art and Play Now, to make the music experience much smoother. The Sony Ericsson C905 also comes complete with a range of in-built games and is Java enabled so users can play games to their hearts content on those long commutes or nights in.

For the internet user the Sony C905 an Access NetFront Web Browser, WAP 1.2.1, WAP 2.0 XHTML and Web Feeds, so owners of this phone will never be without the internet. The Sony Ericsson C905 is a super-sleek looking phone that comes in a variety of colours; Night Black, Ice Silver and Copper Gold, the first of these being the black edition. A contemporary phone with all the features needed and more.

The C905 is the first Cyber-shot to be equipped with assisted GPS which is more responsive than the lugubrious GPS on the first Nokia N95 and the Sony Ericsson W760i. Like the recently released iPhone 3G, the Sony Ericsson C905 will also support the geo-tagging of photos out of the box.

All of this technology has been packed into a casing measuring just 104 x 49 x 18mm which is more than in-line with other models currently available and weighing in at 136g is also not too much for a phone of this stature.

There's no doubting the design though, as the keypad, brushed lens cover and smooth, rounded edges of the casing all look sleek and in keeping with a high-end mobile. The release of the C905 has not come soon enough, as this is one of the most exciting phones Sony Ericsson have launched for some time.

Although initially released on O2 pay monthly contract tariffs the C905 is expected to be picked up by further UK network operators and retailers over the next few days, the Sony C905 will also be made available as a SIM Free handset aswell as on the Pay As You Go payment scheme.
The Sony Ericsson C905 is one of many new Cybershot handsets to be launched this year, for further and more detailed information please visit our online mobile phones shop.

iPod Connectivity and Satellite Radio, Ford’s Growing Pride

Without any difficulty, drivers can now enjoy audio presentations by plugging their iPod into their vehicles or by just listening to Sirius satellite radio. These innovations are brought by Ford to the automobile industry in its latest vehicle lineup. Said big changes are expected to double the sales of Ford vehicles in the year to come.

Mark Fields, Ford's president of the Americas noted, "We at Ford have pledged to listen more closely to our customers, and that includes knowing how they want to use their personal audio devices while driving. We see the booming trend in the audio marketplace, and we are responding quickly in our vehicles."

In addition, Doug VanDagens, director of Ford's product and business development for electronics said, "The iPod has been a huge hit, and we at Ford wanted to develop a way for people to bring the device into their Ford, Lincoln or Mercury vehicle without having to fuss with the device while driving. What we've accomplished with the integration of the iPod into our vehicles is just one piece of a much broader effort at Ford Motor Company to respond to customer trends more quickly."

In 2007 Ford lineup, built-in auxiliary audio-input jacks were offered. The jacks allow iPod or mp3 player integration to come up with an impeccable audio output in the vehicle. Said lineup includes Ford Edge, Mustang, Fusion, Explorer, Expedition, Sport Trac, Ranger, F-150 and more.

Early next year, Ford will also be offering TripTunes Advanced audio system. The latter is an iPod integration that provides quality sounds even while recharging. TripTunes Advanced allows the driver to keep the ipod in the glove box and select or manage music through the radio controls or steering wheel.

Another upcoming offer by Ford is the incorporation of Sirius radio. Field’s also noted, "In 2005, less than half of our vehicles were available with a navigation system, satellite radio or auxiliary audio inputs. For 2007, we're doubling the models available with a navigation system and quadrupling the number with SIRIUS satellite radio.”

In this regard, Ford Mustang performance parts as well as those of Fusion, F-150 and other Ford vehicles were designed to cater to said phenomenal innovations.

6 newbie questions

I just received a s/h 7000S and firt got it going with a bit of telephone help (the seller had the network thingy password protected). The seller kindly sent me a USB stick with it, loaded with the latest Gemini (4.4?) and a Dreambox image. I have DreamboxEdit on my laptop.

This is my first Dreambox and is so different from my previous boxes (Echostar, Topfield) that I really need a bit of help. I am a quick learner so I hope I don't need to pester you all that often..

My first questions:

1) When I first started up my s/h 7000S on Wednesday, it booted on the Dreambox image, not the Gemini (didn't have time to grab the remote control). I configured my motor with VBox II and all my satellites in the Dreambox image. When I booted up using the Gemini image today I didn't have any satellites etc. I've now got all my channels on it thanks to DreamBoxEdit but it's a) not recognising my "devilish" cam and b) it's not moving the dish because I have to install all the sats again.
So is there any way of transferring my satellite settings / rotor position numbers etc. from the Dreambox image to the Gemini image, because I rather like the look of the black Gemini screens.

2) Is there a better kind of EPG - a plug in or something (a bit like the TAPs for Topfields)? Standard EPG on my Topfield was great - I could scroll left and right through the channel list on 28.2 East and it'd show me the current TV picture at top right, the EPG of the next few channels on the left, more detailled info at bottom right and the frequency and polarity of the channel at the bottom. The Dreambox usually just says "No program info avail" except on very few channels (even those which DO have EPG) and I seem to have to be on that channel to see the info.

3) When I set new satellites, download channels form favourites (bouquets) - is this info stored in the Dreambox or on the stick ?

4) If I remove the stick for any reason, do I lose all my information ?

5) I am currently using DreamboxEdit and my laptop using a cross-wired ethernet cable but am planning on using a 20m cable to attach the Db to my router (it's that far away). Trolling through several postings here, some say you need a straight wired cable, others say you possibly need a cross-wired. My router is a Netopia 3357NWG and 20m (66 ft) cables are a bit dear over here (I was just quoted the equiv. of £20 for a 20m cross-wired cable inc postage), so can anyone confirm what sort of cable I need? straight or crossed ?

6) My 7000 only has one USB socket. Would it be possible to insert a USB hub and have, say, the flash stick in one hub socket and a wireless stick in another ? Would that work ?

7) Is there any way either in the All Services or Bouquets list that I can make the Dreambox show me the frequency of the channels as I run down them? When I download new channels (e.g. the currently FTA channels on 5 East) I want to add them to my Sirius bouquet quickly but when I see 8x Discovery Channels on Sirius (5.0 is displayed at bottom right but that's all), I can't see which frequencies they are and so tend to add the wrong ones. Knowing which frequencies I just downloaded would be a great help. (I know I could download the list to my laptop using and do it there, but it'd be a lot of time just to move 3 or 4 channels)

Thankyou for any help anyone can give and I hope to be able to help other people once I get a bit more experience with the Dreambox.

4 Ways to Watch Internet Satellite TV Channels For Free

by: Davion Wong

Anyone who is keen to watch internet satellite TV channels for free might want to take note that this is entirely possible. The TV bills that pile up every single month can quickly snuff out whatever budget you have set aside for the family. This article is written to help all who wishes to watch internet satellite TV channels without any monthly bills. That said, there are start up costs involved but these are insignificant compared to the subscriptions.

We are not going to talk about the illegal methods of watching internet satellite TV channels such as intercepting TV channels using hacked TV cards. Rather, we will discuss 4 ways to watch TV legally without monthly TV bills. So here they are:

1. Self-Assembled Satellite Dish

Satellite dish can be assembled at home. There are different packages sold on eBay and your local hardware mall. The whole set up unfortunately can be pretty challenging for the unskilled hands. And most of us fall within the category if we are not technically inclined. And it is also not cheap to assemble one on our own. The cost can escalate to $1000 and beyond if we are not careful with our budget. The larger dish can be costly but if the dish is small, we get limited TV channels.

2. PCTV Card

The second option is using PCTV card to watch internet satellite TV. This is a better option compared to setting up our own satellite dish system. This card is just like graphics or sound card for our PCs. For a fine piece of card, a branded one, we should be able to spend no more than $300. However, you do need a high speed internet connection. So sorry for those with dial up connections, this device is not for you.

The PCTV card comes in 2 versions of installation. One is an external card which just needs to be fixed to the USB port. The other is slotted onto your computer motherboard. Needless to say, the internal card is not easy to install and most would find it uncomfortable to set up. But it is cheaper also.

3. Online Satellite TV

You may not be aware but some TV stations have gone online. They are offering you access to watch internet satellite TV at their websites. Stations like JumpTV are quite popular but require you to have a powerful high speed connection. I have tried some of these stations and realized that without a broadband connection, you can forget about watching TV here.

On top of that, your computer must already have a media player. Most computers have that but if yours do not, you can download media players such as Windows Media Player, Winamp, DivX or Real Player and so on. While the television programs are free, I find that the selection is too small. And when many people gets onto the same station, it gets really slow as the pictures display in frames.

4. PC Satellite TV Software

This is probably the most accepted option nowadays. This software can not only let you watch internet satellite TV, you get to tune into radio stations as well. For $49.99, you can get to watch programs from well over 3000 satellite TV stations worldwide. Movies, Live sports channels, music videos, global news, cartoons, shopping channels and variety channels are some of the kind of TV programs you get.

The set up is incredibly fast as well. Once you download it, you just install the program like what you would do for other software programs and you can start to use it. Even granddaddies and grandmas can do that without guidance. It is that easy!

But a word of caution, do check out if your computer configuration can meet the requirements of the software before you purchase. Generally, if your PC CPU is at least a Pentium III, it should not be a problem.

Millions of people across the world watch satellite TV and surf the net as well. Since you can bring TV to internet, it is a matter of time they start to watch internet satellite TV and join the hundreds of thousands who are doing so today. Come and see for yourself how it works at my TV blog.

Spring Summer 2008 Trends and How to Wear Them

There are so many lovely clothes for Spring Summer 08, its difficult to decide what to buy. But there will certainly be particular styles that suit you more than others. If you really want to make the most of yourself and look and feel gorgeous, pick and choose clothes that really suit your body shape. Here are a few ideas to get you started but just remember before you buy try it on and get a second opinion from trusted friend.

Dresses - There are plenty of styles of dresses around and there is definitely something to suit everyone. The floral tea dress is almost universally flattering. Just check where the hemline ends, if you want to minimise large calves ensure that it is not at the widest part. For those that don't want to draw attention to a large bust, wear a tea dress with a v neck and a camisole top underneath. Maxi dresses are a great way to cover up areas of your lower half that you would rather not show. Just bear in mind that if you are petite the skirt should not be too full as it will overpower you. A halter neck maxi dress is great for balancing out athletic shoulders. This seasons trend for ruffles is a great way to draw attention to your favourite areas. Ruffles around the neckline will draw attention to your face and around a hem will draw attention to your legs. Pay attention to the direction of the ruffles, if they run downwards of diagonal they will create length and help to slim and lengthen your body. Horizontal ruffles have the opposite effect and will make the area appear wider. This is great for balancing out proportions for example wear a dress with ruffles on the top to balance out wider hips.

Prints and detail - prints are a great for making the most of your body shape. In general wear prints on the area that you want to highlight and keep the areas that you want to keep attention away from plain. This season there are so many prints and details to choose from painterly to floral to tribal and stars. You can also use the proportions of the print make an area look larger (larger scale prints) or smaller (smaller scale prints) as required. Petites should usually stick to the smaller scale prints to avoid looking out of proportion. Embellishment and embroidery can be used in the same way as ruffles to highlight your chosen area.

Jumpsuits- Jumpsuits are everywhere for Spring Summer 08 and in all sorts of styles. They can also be called all in ones and playsuits. Make sure you pick just the right style for your shape. Pay attention to the waist, an hour glass shape will look best in those with a well defined waist if in doubt cinch in with a belt. An apple shape will look great in a low waisted style of playsuit. A halter neck playsuit will look great on those with an athletic build and a fitted shorts suit with short shorts will look great on petites for the summer.

Trousers - Both wide legged trousers and slim fit are great for this season. The wide legged trousers have a crease and a high waist and are great for taller slimmer ladies but a wide leg is also great for balancing out large hips. The fitted or tapered trousers are great for petites but should be avoided at all costs if you want to hide large hips and thighs.

Satelite Television - Huge Entertainment Opportunities

Satellite TV has gained in popularity over the last few years for good reasons. Many people live too far out of town to get cable, so for years they were stuck with antennas for their source of television signals. This meant that they got only a few channels, and quite often had to send someone outside to turn the antenna to hope for a better signal. But now satellite TV has given people in rural areas real entertainment again. Besides the access for people outside of town, satellite tv offers a good alternative for renting movies all the time. If you are a real movie lover, you might think about getting an upgraded package to include movie channels in your menu. This way, you get to see all the new releases and more. And you never have to leave the house to rent, or worry about late fees. You simply pay your monthly bill and leave the rest to your provider. Of course, with satellite TV, you do have to have a receiver. Sometimes companies will offer promotional opportunities for you to get your equipment free or cheap when you give them your business. Other times, you may have the option of buying, or renting the equ

ipment. Even though it may seem like a lot of money at the time, these receivers will last you a long time if you treat them right. Satellite TV can also be a good educational resource if you have anyone in the household still in school. The history channel, discovery channel, and all sorts of news channels are often provided in basic packages. This way, you can have the information with just a click of the remote. Another reason that parents like satellite TV is the control locks. If there are certain channels that you do not want your children watching, you simply set those channels as locked. When someone tries to view one of those channels, it will then ask for a parental code. If the user does not know the code, he will not be able to view it. Just make sure that the code is something that you can easily remember, but that would be hard for anyone else to guess. This way, it is accessible to you, and only those you share the code with. Satellite TV has many advantages as your home entertainment system. Whether you love movies, game shows, old shows, or sports, satellite TV has a package for you and much more.

by: Marcus Rolland

Watching television anywhere and anytime is now very easy. Those who have computers such as desktop, laptop or even a pocket PC that has a PCTV device can get into to any television channel and watch the show that they have been anticipating for.Aside from the local channels, you can also watch other international shows from the National Geographic and Animal planet.More than that, you can also tune in to your favorite FM radio or Internet radio frequencies. This is provided that you are within an area where there is an Internet access to your ISP or within a Wifi zone.

Another chance for you to be able to watch clear television shows is through the satellite TV.Satellite TV operates when the satellite dish is able to receive signals or transmissions that bounce back to earth. The signal is relayed to the antenna that in turn decodes it. The final output or message is the picture that you see on your television screen. The package of the satellite TV comes with a satellite dish and an antenna. This is controlled with the use of the remote control that also comes with the package.

In order to get good signal for your television, you should set the right and proper satellite TV codes for it.The satellite TV codes are usually set up when the satellite TV is installed but there are times when these codes needed to be changed. When browsing through the Internet, you can find several sites that can offer free satellite TV codes. All you have to do is to download the application appropriate for your satellite TV and to key in the satellite codes.Once you have established the satellite TV codes, you can already start watching.

You can send questions and inquires to this site if the original site is down. You also have the option of checking satjunkies. This is another site that might be helpful for you since it has a forum where you can ask questions regarding satellite TV codes. Joining the forum is easy and free. You just create an account to be able to log in.

Again, there are more sites in the Internet that you can search for regarding the satellite TV codes. There are those that come free while there are those that you can avail in minimal price. There are also several sites that accept online discount coupons when purchasing for the satellite codes.Just make sure that you avail from valid suppliers to continue your access to the shows that you are waiting for.
